POSITION SUMMARY

We are on the search for Casual Event Staff for the market events organised by Craft Markets Australia (CMA). Our markets are held on weekends and located in 10 locations across Victoria.

The Casual Event Staff is responsible for an assigned area of the market and will include the bump in/out of each market as well as supervising, auditing and corresponding with market stallholders and patrons. This role will report directly to the Event Operations Manager and will be part of a casual pool of staff.

​

To be successful in this role, you must have exceptional customer service and strong communication skills. You will also have a passion for event management, enthusiasm for delivering successful markets and are a team player who enjoys working in a close-knit team. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes but not limited to:

​

  • Ensure stallholders, market patrons and suppliers receive outstanding customer service during the event.

  • Responsible for the safety and presentation of your allocated area of the market. 

  • Onsite for bump-in, the event and bump-out to help safely site vendors into their allocated position and egress from venue.

  • Ensure your assigned area is safe and operational for both stallholders and patrons.

  • Act as Event Staff, when required, and implement Emergency Management Plans as directed by the Chief Warden.

  • Manage stallholder requirements under the direction of the Event Operations Manager.

  • Set up and pack down event equipment including marquees, banners, signage and tables & chairs.

  • Ensure market stakeholders adhere to OH&S standards and any risks are mitigated and reported to the Event Operations Manager

  • Implement COVIDSafe strategies as directed by the Event Operations Manager

  • Administer general enquiries from market patrons

  • Meet and greet new stallholders and perform stall audits.

  • Attend multiple event sites across different locations throughout the year - including Red Hill, Portsea, Hanging Rock, Mornington, Yarra Glen, Daylesford, Sorrento, Flemington and Mount Martha. Other locations may be added throughout the year.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Experience in Event Management

  • Experience in Customer Service and/or Relationship Management

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 

  • Experience liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders e.g., stallholders, market patrons and third-party suppliers.

  • The ability to hit the ground running.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and problem solve.

Desirable

  • Experience in event operations 

  • Event Management qualification

  • Experience in implementing COVIDSafe strategies at events

  • Understanding of the OH&S requirements to deliver safe events.

  • Experience as Event Staff

  • A knowledge of the market and/or events industry

  • Driver’s license OR ability to get to and from market venue

  • An interest in the market industry and respect for the workmanship that goes into the home grown, home-made products that are on offer. 

This would suit an entry-level or event management student looking for further relevant experience.

This role includes mainly weekend hours, from bump in to bump out of markets. Some flexible week days may be required at management discretion. Due to COVID-19, markets may be changed or cancelled at late notice and work is not always guaranteed.
